LiveIris has just released it new Fleet Management product. This was developed in conjuction with Universal Tracking Technologies (www.universaltracking.com). This has many features using GPS and GPRS to generate stop, speed, moving, alert and distance reports, together with state of the art maps from MapSolute, that gives us detail to street address number level. One of the first product to take advantage of this is Argo Navagation (www.argonav.com) with the FMS Mobile unit.

We has just completed a joint venture with Designline (developer of the world's first commercially available electric hybrid bus). This venture consisted of using DAL's data logger to collect data from the bus and send this data via GPRS back to LiveIris for the purposes of tracking and monitoring.

Well the GS1 conference was a roaring success as LiveIris in conjuction with DAL (Data Acquisitions Ltd) demonstrated the only fully functional RFID tracking system. Today we have released a new communications package allowing packet switched communications such as GPRS and 1 X RTT. Compared to circuit switched data calls this will allow you to save on your communication costs.

We now have nodes available for the iDL301 called iDNs, this enables you to connect extra I/O channels at a lower cost, each iDN has 8 I/O channels and allows you to daisy chain them.

We have customers trialing a new feature called event logging, this allows the end user to configure a data logger to log only when an event happens and or while an event is happening. For example a user only wants to log during the time of 9am to 5pm work days only and when GPS speed is over 60 km/h, this is possible using event triggers in the iDL301 with LiveIris, you can configure the times you want to log along with extra events during that time such as a door opening.

From Connect Canterbury comes a series of seminars showcasing sensor technology and their applications. Sensors, be they for measurement or monitoring, are big business and globally they are a multi-billion dollar industry.
Currently in Canterbury there is a lot of sensor research and development being undertaken and our manufacturing sector is well suited to the needs of many sensor categories. This makes Canterbury well placed to increase its share of this large, rapidly growing market. Connect Canterbury’s Sensor Showcase Series will provide manufacturers, investors and the R&D community the opportunity for greater collaboration between research groups and between researchers and industry.

Sensor showcase at Christchurch New Zealand 16th November 2005, see the iDL301 in action with LiveIris, demo of humidity and temperature alarms.
This time, the focus is on Industrial and Environmental Sensor Applications. The presentations will describe devices for the non-invasive measurement of moisture in bulk materials, a nanotech-based hydrogen sensor for leak detection and process control, a sensor for rapid measurement of water quality and a new technique for tracking water movement through the natural environment or, potentially, through many other environments.
The showcase is to be held at the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association Offices and the presentations will start at 4pm. Attendance is free, and includes good food and wine during the networking session.
